Kalyra Winery & New Frontiers Announce the “New Frontiers Documentary Series
Thursday, April 24, 2014
April 18, 2014 – In its third year offering free outdoor movie nights, Kalyra Winery is implementing creative touches to expand and broaden the movie night experience for their guests.
“The movie nights have been so well-received in our community,” said Evie Sweeney, Director of Marketing & Membership for Kalyra Winery, “so we wanted to add some new elements to keep it a fresh and interesting activity.”
The most significant announcement is the New Frontiers Documentary Series, a collaborative partnership between Kalyra Winery and New Frontiers Marketplace. The New Frontiers Documentary Series will be held on the fourth Saturday of every month from May to October, in addition to Kalyra’s regular movie night series, which is held on the second Saturday of each month.
“Documentaries are not as mainstream as Hollywood movies,” said Sweeney, “and we felt it was prudent to find a partner who could help us promote the series out of a common desire to educate ourselves and others. We immediately knew who our first choice would be: New Frontiers. We were excited they felt the same way.”
Like the regular movie nights, this series will be held outdoors, free to the public, and shown on a 20-foot high definition big screen. It will feature award-winning documentaries that offer educational, inspiring true stories of causes, people and animals. New Frontiers will be onsite at each screening, offering scrumptious dinners fare for sale, while Kalyra will be offering wine and popcorn.
“When Kalyra brought up the idea of partnering on a documentary series, it immediately clicked and made total sense,” said Ron Colone, who is helping coordinate the programming and the partnership between Kalyra and New Frontiers. “As Evie pointed out, part of the Mission at New Frontiers is ‘educating ourselves and others.’ But another important component of the New Frontiers Mission is embracing opportunities to improve the quality of life, in our community and our world. Creating a program where people can get together in a beautiful setting, with good food and drink, and high quality, stimulating entertainment is one more thing contributing to quality of life in the Santa Ynez Valley.”
The New Frontiers Documentary Series includes:
More Than Honey – Saturday, May 24
Buck – Saturday, June 28
Dirt! The Movie – Saturday, July 26
The Whale – Saturday, August 23
Tales From the Tavern – Saturday, September 27
